Are Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson the best quarterbacks from the 2018 NFL Draft?
The 2018 NFL Draft had some pretty solid quarterbacks, I mean there are currently six of them who are starting or were starting in the NFL sometime this year. If you count Luke Falk there would have been seven, but that didn’t last long.
- Sam Darnold, USC. 6-foot-3 3/8, 221 pounds
- Baker Mayfield, Oklahoma. 6-0 3/4, 216 pounds
- Josh Allen, Wyoming. 6-4 7/8, 237 pounds
- Lamar Jackson, Louisville. 6-2 1/4, 216 pounds
- Josh Rosen, UCLA. 6-4, 226 pounds
- Mason Rudolph, Oklahoma State. 6-4 1/8, 229 pounds
When the draft started, everyone thought the Browns would pass on Baker Mayfield and draft Josh Allen or Sam Darnold, but the Browns shocked the world and took Baker, who they thought would be a superstar. After a few starts the electric and fiery QB really looked like he was going to be the future in Cleveland. After his second season though, teams are shaking their heads. Today Baker lost to Devlin Hodges and the Pittsburgh Steelers. I get that he cannot play defense, and catch the ball, but you do realize out of all the quarterbacks listed above, he has the best supporting cast. He has Jarvis Landry, Odell Beckham Jr., David Njoku, Kareem Hunt, Nick Chubb, I mean what else do you need to be successful? An offensive line? Maybe, the Browns failed to help him there, and it is showing.
Next was Sam Darnold, everyone was on the Sam I am train. Shoot they had Suck for Sam signs, and the Jets were pumped when they drafted him. If you follow Manish Mehta of the NY Daily, you would think Sam Darnold is the best quarterback in the entire NFL. Shoot, he places Darnold over Tom Brady every week in a tweet and every week he pumps him up they choke. I am not sure what is going on with Sam Darnold. The Jets ran out and spent millions on playmakers. They landed Le’Veon Bell who has been MIA all season. They also have Robby Anderson, signed Jamison Crowder, and even stole Ryan Griffin who was cut by the Texans after getting arrested on the night of the NFL Draft. The Jets offense has some solid players, but Darnold is struggling bad. Today they lost to the 0-11 Bengals. Are you kidding me?
Josh Rosen and Mason Rudolph – Sorry guys you have both been benched. Rudolph for Devlin Hodges an undrafted free agent from Samford, and Fitzmagic the 400 year old journeyman is running things in Miami right now. The Dolphins beat the Eagles today, and the Steelers beat the Browns, so I doubt they will make a change at this point. So both of them are out.
Josh Allen – The Buffalo Bills did the exact opposite for their young gun slinger. The Bills did not run out and sign him big time free agents at wide receiver, they signed him 7 brand new offensive lineman. The Bills stacked their team with players to protect him. The Bills let their leading rusher leave by cutting him. The Bills sent their number 1 wide receiver to the Raiders for a fifth round pick. The Bills signed two veteran elder wide receivers in Cole Beasley and John Brown and right now the Bills have 9 wins. Josh Allen has been amazing this year and is not making dumb decisions. The Bills defense is nasty and that keeps them in the game. Next week they have a true test in the Baltimore Ravens, but I could see the Bills beating the 10-2 Ravens.
Lamar Jackson – Let’s face it, we all knew this kid would be special. He was special in college. Several wanted to make him a wide receiver, some did not like him because he was too skinny, but he has been a dog for the Ravens. Did the Ravens get him big time targets? NO, they kept their roster that is stacked with tight ends, signed a couple solid wide outs, drafted a speed demon in Marquise Brown and their biggest signing was Mark Ingram. A big back that can block. The Ravens do not make many mistakes like the Bills, and that is why this match-up next week is going to be amazing. The Ravens and Bills right now look like they have the best quarterbacks from the 2018 NFL Draft, and I know that is going to make some people mad.
