As an athlete, what is your motivation?
My motivation is to make my family and community proud. I want to show that guys from small schools can make it. I want to show that it does not matter what level you play at in high school or in college. If you are good enough people will notice you.
What defines success for you
Knowing that all the hard work you put in has paid off.
What would your teammates say about the type of teammate you are?
My teammates would probably say that I lead and work by example. That I put in the work on and off the field.
What are some of your personal “rules” that you never break?
Never be late for things.
When did you fall in love with football?
I fell in love with football in the third grade when I started playing with friends in my neighborhood.
What do you do to calm the butterflies before a game?
Take in deep breaths.
Who is the toughest player you’ve competed against during your collegiate career?
Jay Liggins, CB Dickinson State.
Who is the best player in the NFL?
Julio Jones.
What is the best part about competition?
Beating your opponent.
What is your team of choice on Madden, why?
I don’t really have a choice I usually just do 3 randoms and pick one.
Failure is inevitable in life. How do you handle situations that don’t go in your favor?
Move on from them and make sure you don’t make the same decisions in the future that lead to failure.
Who is your sports hero? Why?
I would have to say Michael Jordan because of the way he revolutionized the way athletes were looked at and portrayed. He was able to brand himself and make it big outside of sports. His mark has made an impact on almost every sport.
Is there a current/former NFL player that you model your game after?
Calvin Johnson.
Knowing what you do now, what would you go back and tell yourself as a High-School Freshman?
Get in the weight room and keep putting in the extra work outside of practice.
What is your go-to restaurant near campus?
I would have to say this teriyaki restaurant called Mihamas near our campus.
If your life was a book, what would its title be?
“Grateful.”
What is playing in your headphones before a game?
Shoreline Mafia.
If you could have dinner with anyone in the world, living or deceased, who would it be and why?
My grandfather who passed away a couple of weeks after I was born.
When football is over, what will your legacy be?
My legacy will be a man who gave himself a chance to fulfill his lifelong dream of playing in the NFL.
Give me your elevator pitch to a Pro Football GM in 15 words or less. Why should we invest in you?
Great work ethic and ability to be coachable and not make the same mistake twice.
