HBCU Heroes: Which players caught the eye of HBCU Spirit of America All-Star Game scouts in week 9?
De’Montrez Burroughs, WR, South Carolina State – The 6020 senior wide out had a solid game this past week against Bethune Cookman hauling in 2 receptions including a deep ball (48) and a touchdown. Burroughs has great size and speed, and I love his big play against a solid Bethune-Cookman secondary.
Akevious Williams, QB, Bethune-Cookman – The Wildcats may have come up short, but Akevious Williams was doing everything he could to keep his team in the game. Williams went 12-27 for 262 yards and 2 touchdowns. He had a solid game against a stubborn South Carolina State defense.
Dawonya Tucker, RB, Prairie View A&M – I am a fan, I do not care about the height anymore. Yes, he is a 5050 back but he is fast as hell and has breakaway speed. He gets behind his blockers and you cannot see him. He is trouble and I think he will be a guy we want in our HBCU Spirit of the America game bad. He is growing on me.
Chris Blair, WR, Alcorn State – The 6030 wide out had himself a game week 9 against Southern. He finished the game with 108 yards with a huge 69 yard reception. This is the third week in a row Blair burned up a secondary for a 60 plus yard reception. He is a big kid with speed and big play ability.
Jordan Bentley, RB, Alabama A&M – The AAMU running back is a dog, and he just keeps tearing up defenses. Week 9 he was three yards shy of 200 and scored three touchdowns. Bentley is one of the best HBCU players in the 2020 NFL Draft, and it is not close.
