Diamond Talk: Juwan Green, WR, University at Albany | Big Time WR from WV
Juwan Green is a fun player to watch on the field. The 6020, 195-pound wideout from Martinsburg, West Virginia is playing in his second season at Albany after spending two years at prestigious Lackawanna College, a junior-college football powerhouse.
University at Albany wide receiver Juwan Green played only one year of high school football. He didn’t put on the pads until he was a senior in Martinsburg.
He’d played AAU basketball since he was a child but eventually gravitated to the gridiron. His father, Dean, was a wide receiver who lettered at the University of Maryland in 1988 and 1989.
In his first season last year with Albany, Green played in 9 games and caught 23 receptions for 429 yards and scored four touchdowns. He was also a return man and averaged 23.29 yards per return.
This year though, Green is going BANANAS. Today the Great Danes fell short against Monmouth in overtime, but Green was unstoppable. He hauled in 15 receptions for 245 yards and scored three touchdowns. Green had 94 yards week one against Central Michigan, and scored 2 touchdowns. He already has 350 yards and 5 touchdowns in three games. He is having a huge year. Keep an eye on him!
