HBCU Heroes: Week 5 standouts who caught the eye of the HBCU Spirit of America Bowl

Akevious Williams, QB, Bethune Cookman – The senior gunslinger from Madison, Florida had a great game. He threw for 199 yards on 16 passes and ran for 101 yards and three touchdown runs. He was a leader on the field and looked great this week.

Kyle Anthony, WR, Howard – The Senior wide out from Miramar, Florida continues to shine in the FCS. The Bison wide out finished with 7 receptions for 117 yards. I love the kid he is a big target and runs smooth routes. He is one of the best players in all of HBCU.

Dawonya Tucker, RB, PVAMU – He is growing on me, and is becoming one of my favorite players. Last year there was a player named Deonte Harris that everyone said was too small, he is returning punts for the Saints. Tucker is a kid that has been blowing up the FCS. He finished a game this week with 263 yards on the ground and scored twice. Keep it up Dawonya!

Elijah Bell, WR, NCAT – I love me some Elijah Bell. The 6010 speedster for the Aggies had a great game. He finished with 101 yards receiving on just 9 receptions. Bell has that it factor that you are looking for in a wide out. I think an NFL team will fall in love with him because he has heart.

Sleeper of the Day Alert :

Seth Rowland – RB – Tennessee State – I have talked about his brother every week since I started this article but today while Chris balled out, I am proud of Seth.  The older Rowland only carried the ball 8 times for 71 yards but let me say this, he is their best running back and the team is not using him correctly.  These Rowland kids are beasts and they need the ball in their hands.  I am asking you Tennessee State, feed Seth Rowland one game.  See what he does.  The kid is a beast!
