Diamond Talk: Solomon Muhammad, LB, Alcorn State | One of the best LB’s in the HBCU
Alcorn State linebacker Solomon Muhammad was named a 2018 HBCU All-American and a SWAC All-Conference First-Team honoree.
He finished second on the team in tackles with 64 despite missing two games. He also wrapped up with 4.0 sacks and 9.0 tackles for a loss.
It came after a breakout year in 2017 where he notched 52 tackles in just seven games including 6.5 tackles for a loss, 2.0 sacks, two forced fumbles, and an interception.
The Birmingham, Alabama native is 6010 and weighs 235 pounds. He finished last season on the Buck Buchanan Award Watch List and was the only player from the SWAC conference.

The five-time defending Southwestern Athletic Conference East Division champions are projected to win it again in the 2019 SWAC preseason poll.
The Braves earned a whopping 14 selections on the preseason All-SWAC teams, including nine on the first team. I think Muhammad could end up being a draft pick if he has a solid season. With the DPOY in the NFL coming from the HBCU, teams are going to be on the lookout. Both Muhammad and Darius Leonard have similar playing styles, and I cannot wait to see him shine in 2019.
