Diamond Talk: Ju’Anthony Parker, DB, PVAMU | HBCU QB’s Nightmare
Ju’Anthony Parker is a 5’11 defensive back from Dallas, Texas. He commited to Prairie View A&M University and it was a very good decision for him because he is dominate force in the SWAC.
Parker was an All-SWAC team selection, and in the past several years he has really began racking up tackles. In 2018, he finished with 26 tackles, 3 tackles for loss, and three interceptions. That brought his total to 7 career interceptions in his career.
As a Sophomore, Ju’Anthony returned two of his three interceptions for touchdowns, averaging 22.5 yards per interception return.
Parker has a knack for picking off his opponent’s quarterbacks. Parker also began playing special teams last season, where he had several punt returns as well.
If the long defensive back can continue to play special teams and be a playmaker he could be destined for a huge final season. Parker could be the next player to make it to the NFL. The great news is Bubba McDowell the former Houston Oilers defensive back is his DB’s coach.
Former NFL defensive standout Bubba McDowell is in his ninth season on the Prairie View A&M coaching staff and his fourth as assistant head coach. This is his second year also coaching the Panther cornerbacks.
In 2018, Ju’Anthony Parker earned first-team All-SWAC and BOXTOROW All-America honors for the second straight year. Parker is learning from a great, so this will be an exciting season in 2019.
