Diamond Talk: Charlie Taumoepeau, TE, Portland State | The Primary Weapon for PSU
Charlie Taumoepeau is an offensive weapon in the Big Sky Conference. He is a 6030, 245 grown man that plays tight end and is by far the biggest impact player for the Vikings.
In his career, the sure handed tight end has 81 receptions, 1402 career receiving yards and is the top returning receiver on the team. He is a first team All-American who does not just line up at the off the tackle. He splits out and has corners covering him a time.
Against two FBS programs last season he had 8 receptions for 255 yards and four touchdowns. Those games were played against Nevada an Oregon. When you watch this kid play you will be amazed. His speed is sneaky, he had receptions of 75, 71 and 71 last season.
His sophomore season, Taumoepeau had the most receptions by a Portland State tight end since Barry Naone in 1988. He hauled in 45 balls for 673 yards and three touchdowns.
Do not be surprised if Charlie is given an invite to the Senior Bowl. All All-Star games will be paying attention to him this season, I can see him blowing up on the scene after his pro day. Scouts know him now, but do you?
