Is Lions head coach Matt Patricia on the hot seat? – By Larry Horn
Detroit Lions head coach Matt Patricia will start his second year on the hot seat.
Matt Patricia had a heavy dose of reality when he ventured away from the hands of New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick for the first time last season. The Lions finished a season that started on a downside with a subpar draft and ended miserably with a 6-10 record.
This offseason the Lions were able to keep tabs on an improved defense. The defense could be a top ten defense. The problem Matt Patricia will have is the offense. The offense is lackluster and has no imagination. Matthew Stafford has the same type of offensive line he always had. The run game is good of imagination and the passing game needs help without a true WR1 In the lineup.
It looks like if Patricia has another subpar season, there should be changes made next offseason. There will be even more changes in staff and they could start moving on from an accomplished QB that can’t get anywhere.
Coaches coming off of the guided hands of Belichick have not had much success. Their resumes look great but when they go out on their own they are held to a standard too high that deserves the hot seat alone after a 6-10 season.
