High School Football Coach shot and killed by a parent protecting their son

John Jeffrey Ballas was arrested and charged for Murder for protecting his son from an intoxicated high school football coach who was trying to fight his son on his property.

Joseph Iavarone, 44, died from a gunshot wound on Tuesday, two days after being shot by his neighbor John Jeffrey Ballas (who was charged and arrested for his murder), after Ballas shot Iavarone (who they believe was intoxicated) for trying to fight his son, per NBC Philly.

Iavarone was belligerent according to the police reports. The incident took place on Sunday outside of Ballas home in Chester Heights, PA.

Iavarone began damaging property outside the house and arguing with Ballas’ Son who was inside. Iavarone wanted to fight Ballas’ son but Balla’s intervened telling him he had a weapon.

Balla’s shot Iavarone in the head as he continued to approach Balla’s and was warned according to the report.  I do not know what happened in this case, but if Balla’s is in fact charged with murder the system is broke.  It sounds to me like he was defending his family.  Pretty wild story coming out of Pennsylvania.
