Former Jets draft pick arrested for weed, oxy pills and various firearms

Former Jets draft pick Jacob Bender was arrested for drug possession and several weapons.

Jacob Bender, 33, a former sixth round draft pick of the New York Jets in 2007 was arrested at his Crofton residence this past week after authorities found marijuana, oxycodone and various firearms in his possession.

The police found 30 grams of marijuana, 41 grams of marijuana wax, one pill or oxycodone and 2 grams of crushed pills. They also found 204 pills of Xanax and 2 pills of buprenorphine an anti-depressant drug.

In addition to the drugs, they found a .45 caliber handgun with 14 rounds, a Remington 870 shotgun, a model 311 Stevens shotgun, 24 12 gauge rounds and a box of .22 caliber ammunition to go along with 10,000 in cash.

Bender has had problems in the past with drugs. He was arrested before in the past and has been suffering from an addiction to pills and heavy narcotics. 

Bender played college football at Nicholls State University. He bounced around the NFL playing for the Patriots, 49ers, Giants, Saints, Redskins and Panthers besides the Jets.
