NFL Draft Diamonds Prospect Analysis: Justin Reid, Safety, Stanford
NFL Prospect Analysis: Justin Reid, Safety, Stanford
Justin Reid is precisely what NFL teams are looking for at the safety position, he has great instincts and is a ball hawk. He responds well to formation and motion shifts extremely well and is a very good open field tackler. Eric Reid (Safety for the 49ers) is his brother, I believe Justin is better in coverage and it shows in his film. Reid is always in the right position, and he has the recognition skills and speed to effectively patrol the back end of the defense and challenge the catch consistently. He does a great job of evading blockers in space and can play in the box at a high level. His ability to flow through the alley and crash ball carriers is one of his strongest attributes. His daunting size and speed along with his excellent versatility should be quite intriguing for teams in search of a playmaking safety. I could see him sneaking into the back end of the first round at the earliest, but realistically I look for him to be selected in rounds 1-2. I look for him to make an impact early and possibly even start come week 1 of the regular season.
