NFL Draft Diamonds Prospect Interview: Mitchell Fillmore, LS, Cal University of PA
What is your name?
Mitchell Fillmore
Height/Weight?
6’0ft, 235lbs
What is your position?
Long snapper
Where do you play college football?
California University of Pennsylvania
Where are you from?
I’m from Steelton, Pennsylvania
Who is your role model, and why?
I have many people I look up too but my parents are my main role models. They have taught me everything I know and would do anything for anyone.
Who was your favorite teacher?
My favorite teacher is Dr. Hummel from CalU, always guides people in the right direction and loves talking football.
Did you play any other sports growing up?
Yes, I played baseball and hockey while I was growing up.
Who was the toughest player you ever faced?
My toughest player I played against was Justin Shirk my freshman year from Bloomsbury.
Who is the most underrated player on your team?
I would have to myself because of the position that I play but I would also have to say our Defensive Lineman Malik Akins, he was a very big part of our defense that doesn’t get the praise he deserves.
What is the one song that would fire you up before the biggest game of your life?
Dreams and Nightmares by Meek Mill, we listened to it before we went out on the field before kickoff.
If you could compare your play to one player in the NFL who would it be and why?
I would have to compare myself to Jon Dorenbos, because of how consist and fast his snaps were. Also his ability to cover after a snap as well.
What was the biggest obstacle in your life you had to overcome, and how did you overcome it?
I would have to say when I broke my left-hand last year and I had to snap in two playoff games. I had to play through pain and couldn’t cast it because of my job. So we had to think of tape jobs to hold my hand together as best so I could snap. At the end of it, it made me a better snapper because it made me battle through adversity and let me develop new snapping techniques.
Do you have any pre-game rituals?
I don’t have any pre-game rituals really, I just try to focus on the game.
What was the most memorable play of your collegiate career?
My most memorable play was snapping the game-winning field goal to beat IUP for first place in our conference.
What is the coolest thing you ever did off the field for someone else?
Our team would help the local fire department with their annual fish fry, it’s nice to talk to the local people about football, the town, and what’s going on with them.
Who was your favorite NFL team growing up?
My favorite team growing up and still is the Philadelphia Eagles.
If you could have dinner with three people dead or alive, who would you choose?
I would have to have dinner with my Grandmother and Grandfather on my mother’s side, and also Denzel Washington because he’s my favorite actor.
