The High School Football Prophet: Check Out 4 Amazing Diamonds!

Welcome to a new series presented by NFL Draft Diamonds where we will feature talented High School kids who are unranked and unnoticed. Like many of you, I felt that the current system of ranking College Recruits was a true representation of available high school talent, that was until my Twitter inbox began to overflow with video of amazing athletes who were never ranked. Keeping true to the NFL Draft Diamond mission, we will now feature High School kids who are one offer away from shocking the world.

Diamond #1: Jakoeby Sonnier – All Star Guard
Jakoeby Sonnier is in his senior year at Sulphur High located in Sulphur, Louisiana. Jakoeby is a skilled interior offensive linemen, and has mastered the art of absorbing stunts and delayed blitz packages. Whenever a play required a pulling guard, Jakoeby was often tapped to bust open running lanes, or pick off second level defenders. I had the opportunity to scout his State All Star Game, and was impress to watch him get seals on defensive linemen – against D1 recruited talent. As of today’s date Jakoeby Sonnier has no offers and no official visits.

Diamond #2: James Evins – Linebacker / FS
After watching 30 seconds of film on James Evins, I quickly concluded that this kid was a top talent Diamond. Dark Knight as he is known by his teammates (at Oakdale High in Oakdale, Louisiana) reminds me of Patrick Willis when he played at Ole Miss. This young man runs fast and hits hard, but the best part of his game – his Special Teams defensive skills. Due to his 4.4 speed in the 40, James Evins has a unique skill set for blocking punts and field goals. For teams looking to shut down Run Pass Read Option Offenses, then look no further than James Evins because of his Gap Shooting abilities. As of today’s publication James ‘Dark Night’ Evins has no offers and no official visits.

Diamond #3: Kage Hendrix – DLINE / OLINE
Need a monster on your defensive line? Need an Offensive Linemen to wear down defenders in the 3rd quarter? Meet Kage Hendrix from Ennis High in Ennis Texas. The only reason I could find for Kage Hendrix landing on my list of Diamonds, is because he doesn’t have a profile on 247 or Rivals, the kid is totally unrated. Make no mistake about it – Kage Hendrix is a 5 Star Defensive Linemen or Offensive Linemen. Not only is he strong but as indicated in the film, he can also chase down a QB in the backfield. Kage Hendrix has Alabama written all over him – which is why I have been praying my LSU Tigers would make him an offer. The moment Nick Saban gets word of Kage Hendrix, offers will roll in like a rushing tide! Kage has only had two D2 official visits but would love to hold out for a D1 offer.

Diamond #4: Delmonte Hall – RB
When I first watch Delmonte Hall highlight video, I was left scratching my head as to why this kid did not have one D1 Offer. At North DeSoto in Stonewall, Louisiana Hall made the First Team All State and was the 2nd Leading Scorer for the 2016 season. He had a total of 1850 yards with 41 total touchdowns. Delmonte Hall was Shreveport Times Offensive Player of the year, and Friday Night Lights Player of the year. When North DoSoto took on Huntington High, Delmonte Hall put on an electrifying show by finishing the night with 8 touchdowns. Recently Delmonte Hall had his first official visit with Southeastern Lions where he has verbally commit, but keep in mind many D1 coaches didn’t even know this kid existed.
