Chiefs save 6 million in cap space by restructuring the contract of Justin Houston
Field Yates of ESPN reports that the Chiefs reworked OLB Justin Houston’s contract in recent days and in turn picked up $6 million of cap space.
The cap-tight Chiefs turned $7.5M of OLB Justin Houston’s $14.9M 2016 base salary into a bonus, creating $6M of cap space.

The Chiefs now have around $11 million in cap space. Specifically, the NFLPA report has them at $11,170,610. This is plenty of room for the rest of the season.
