Brandon Boykin has been released by the Carolina Panthers

The Panthers released cornerback Brandon Boykin and Ras-I Dowling, signed as a free agent in late March. They signed six tryout players: TE Braxton Deaver, RB Jalen Simmons, WR Miles Shuler, OT Jordan Rigsbee, LB Jared Barber and CB Shaquille Richardson. The release of Boykin shows how comfortable the coaches were with the three corners they drafted after a weekend rookie minicamp.

Boykin played college football at Georgia and was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the fourth round of the 2012 NFL Draft. He has also played for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

This is monstrous news because Boykin was one of the only real veteran cornerbacks the Panthers have left after letting Josh Norman walk.
