Chargers may be the biggest winner of the #Titans and #Rams trade
Yesterday, when the Tennessee Titans decided to trade the Los Angeles Rams the first pick in the NFL Draft, everyone was looking at the compensation to see which team was the biggest winner, yet no one was looking at the San Diego Chargers.
The Chargers did not trade anyone, but if the Draft works like many thought with a quarterback and quarterback taken 1 and two, the Chargers will have the option to draft the best non quarterback in the entire draft and likely the best player in the entire draft.
Among Chargers’ options at No. 3:
Bosa was No. 1-graded edge rusher
Buckner No. 1 int. DL,
Ramsey No. 1 CB
Tunsil No. 18 OT (lim. snaps)— Pro Football Focus (@PFF) April 14, 2016
If the Browns take a player in the draft opposite of quarterback, the Chargers then have the option to trade out of three for a quarterback needy team. If the Rams draft a quarterback and the Browns draft a non QB, I could imagine the 49ers, the Jets, the Broncos and maybe the Bills looking to trade up to the third spot. This sounds wild but the Chargers are sitting in a really pretty situation to either get a very good player or a bunch of compensation. At this point, the teams that are trading up are looking for positional need rather than best player available.
