According to ESPN’s numbers, there will be 1 billion dollars available for free agents signing in 2016. That is insane considering how much the salary cap has grown.
The cap was first introduced for the 1994 season and was initially $34.6 million. Both the cap and the floor are adjusted annually based on the league’s revenues, and they have increased each year.
These are the estimated available cap space for 2016 according to ESPN. These numbers are based on 154 million dollar cap projection. That is a lot of money folks. So if you add up all that free money there is over a billion dollars. That is insanity!!!!
