Giants placed NT Johnathan Hankins on injured reserve with a torn pectoral, ending his season. According to Tom Rock of Newsday, Giants coach Tom Coughlin said that defensive tackle Johnathan Hankins suffered a torn pectoral muscle yesterday, and would be out for the season.

The third-year second rounder requires surgery. It’s a huge blow for the Giants’ already-embattled run defense. Hankins was an every-week starter, and playing most early downs. Jay Bromley will see the biggest increase in snaps alongside Cullen Jenkins in Hankins’ absence. Still only 23, Hankins will be in the final year of his rookie contract next season.
In eight games this season, Hankins had 20 solo tackles and no sacks.
