Texans need a quarterback; Mallett and Hoyer struggled again

Texans do not want Brian Hoyer or Ryan Mallett to be a Superhero
Texans do not want Brian Hoyer or Ryan Mallett to be a Superhero, but they need them to at least step up…

Could the Houston Texans be on the market for a quarterback? The failed to address the quarterback in the off season but the team is truly struggling right now.  The Texans need to find a  quarterback that can make plays. Right now Ryan Mallett and Brian Hoyer are playing like they do not want to be a starter.

Mallett got the start, going 5-of-7 passing for just 23 yards on two drives. Despite boasting a strong arm, not once in his seven passes did Mallett even look to throw deep. On one telegraphed pass, Broncos linebacker Brandon Marshall almost picked Mallett off on a short throw.

Hoyer entered the game and didn’t fare any better, going 7-of-11 for 52 yards. The veteran passer at least attempted to stretch the defense with a couple deep shots (didn’t connect), but he also took two sacks.

I am not saying the Texans could find a better quarterback, but I would be looking to maybe trade a late round pick and try to land Matt McGloin or Matt Barkley. At this point, I am not sure any of those quarterbacks could do something. Michael Vick is also still available, but the Texans are hoping someone will step up and be that guy. The only quarterback that could get them into field goal range even last night was Tom Savage, so maybe he is the answer….
