Brown, 28, signed a one-year, $825,000 contract that included a $40,000 signing bonus with the Texans back in April, but was officially released on Saturday.
The Giants released OLB Victor Butler in a corresponding move. His release will make room for S Stevie Brown. Bulter is suspended the first four games of the season.
