Tutorial: How to find an NFLPA certified agent, and tell if he has clients?
NFL Draft Diamonds was created for small school football players on August 1st, 2013. We learned over the years of working with small school players that they do not know much about the agent process as well as the NFL Draft process as a whole. So what we did is we began teaching players about the agent process as well as the Draft process.
What to look for, and basically play the role of a Pro Liaison. In most major colleges, the school pays for a Pro Liaison who teaches the players and the families of the student about the NFL Draft Process including the agent process.
Well since Small Schoolers do not have the access to a Pro liaison, we teach players. I try to individually teach players as I meet them or as they have questions, but I feel after former NFL wide receiver Richard Goodman’s case, this is important information for the players who are up and coming NFL prospects.
So here we go, Here is how you can check yourself if an agent is certified with the NFLPA.
Step 1 – Go to the NFLPA website – www.nflpa.com
This is a great tool….
Second Step: On the left hand of the page underneath General Information there is a section that says Agent Search. Click Agent Search.
Step Three: Under Agent search you can type in the name of an agent or you can just hit Search and it will bring up all the certified agents in the NFL. This site is updated daily and is a very great resource
Step Four – If you just hit search, it will pull up all 871 agents certified in the NFL. That is all there is folks. There are only 871 agents in the NFLPA registry. If the agents name is not in there, he likely is not registered. Under the new CBA, a player cannot talk to anyone but a certified agent. That was called the runner law, so be careful.
Final Step: After you find the agent you are looking for (We used Drew Rosenhaus since everyone knows he has a ton of clients). This is how you can tell how many clients the agent has. After clicking on the agent you like or know you can see how many contracts they negotiated. This number is HOW MANY CLIENTS ARE IN THE NFL AT THIS TIME. This also has the contact information for the agent.
If you have anymore questions regarding this process, please contact us and we can help you out.
