2016 NFL Scouting Notes: Joshua Perry, LB, Ohio State
2016 NFL Scouting Notes: Joshua Perry, LB, Ohio State
Tonight we continue looking at the Linebackers group. As always these notes are based off from last year’s film and will precede the full report which will come after I view film from the upcoming season. Tonight we are looking at Joshua Perry out of Ohio St, here are my notes:
Joshua Perry 6’4. 254 lbs. Ohio St
The Positives
1) Great NFL size
2) Plays with good power
3) Good pursuit of the ball carrier
4) Takes good angles to get to ball carrier
5) Solid tackler
The Negatives
1) Has just Ok speed
2) Not great in coverage
3) At times has trouble shedding blocks
Joshua Perry is a player who is often overshadowed by his more popular teammates such as Joey Bosa, Ezekiel Elliot, and Cardale Jones, but is a leader on his defense and had 124 tackles last season. He has great size, takes good angles to get to the ball, and is a dependable tackler. He however has just Ok speed, he at times has trouble getting through his blocker, and his coverage skills are less than stellar. Perry is an outstanding person off the field, as he is very active in his community helping those less fortunate. Depending on how his senior season plays out, Perry could be a mid-round pick, and could develop into a solid player at the next level.
