2016 NFL Scouting Notes: Alonzo Russell, WR, Toledo
2016 NFL Scouting Notes: Alonzo Russell. WR. Toledo
Tonight we go back to the offensive side of the ball, and begin our look at the Wide Receivers. The last two draft classes have been unusually great at the WR position and will be hard to live up to, but this class does have some talented players. Here are my notes on the first of those players:
Alonzo Russell. 6’4. 205 lbs. Toledo

The Positives
1) Russell possesses good NFL size
2) He is a better than average route runner
3) Has very good hands, adjusting to make the tough catch
4) Very good speed
5) Good run blocking effort
The Negatives
1) Has been injured on occasion
2) May need to gain a little weight
Alonzo Russell is an intriguing prospect who showed vast improvement from his sophomore to junior seasons. He has great speed for his size, as he often runs past corners and safeties. He also possesses good footwork and route running, performing double moves on corners and safeties to help get himself open. His catch ability is very good as well, often catching the ball at its height, and in traffic. If he shows as much improvement in his senior season as he did his previous seasons, Russell should be one of the top prospects at WR.
