2016 NFL Draft Scouting Notes: Scooby Wright III, LB, Arizona

Tonight we continue our look at Linebackers in scouting notes. These notes are based off from last year’s film and will precede the full scouting report which will come after I view games from the upcoming season. Here are my notes:
Scooby Wright III. LB. 6’1 246 lbs. Arizona
The Positives
1) He is a good tackler
2) Plays with good effort
3) Fights off blocks
4) Appears to have the ability to correctly diagnose plays
The Negatives
1) Has ok speed
2) Can get pushed back by blockers at time
3) Does not have the speed to cover the elite NFL TE’s
4) Does not show good hip bending or “flexibility”
Scooby Wright III is a player who made an immediate impact on that Arizona defense and he hasn’t let up. Last season he made over 100 tackles o his way to multiple season awards. He is often double teamed, which shows the respect opposing teams have for him. He does occasionally get pushed off his spot by blockers, and he doesn’t have good enough speed to cover the upper echelon NFL tight ends. If Scooby has an equally productive season this year, I would expect him to be a fairly high draft pick.
