Kevin Vye

What is your Height/Weight?

 Height 6’2 1/2 / weight 215

What is your position?

Position : quarterback

Where do you play college football?

I played college football at Texas A&M Commerce

How many teams were recruiting you out of high school?

5 schools recruited me, ended up going to Deanza junior college wanted a chance to play at higher d1 college

Where are you from?

I am from San Jose California

Who is your role model, and why?

My role model would have to be Joe Montana. The reason being, he is the best at his position. The way he lead his team, how humble he was, the fact he could have a laugh even during a serious part of the game, and finally the fact that you knew he played the game because he loved it for what it was.

Have any scouts met with you yet, and if so what are they saying?

I recently did the San Jose pro day and talked with the Chargers, Dolphins, and 49ers. The 4 things they were impressed with was my quick release, quick footwork, arm strength and my accuracy.

Did you play any other sports growing up?

Growing up I played baseball, I was a top tier center fielder, I had a consistent batting average from my sophomore year to senior yr on varsity of 330. I also lead the league in stolen bases averaging over 30 a season

Did you play any other positions in football?

I did not play any other positions in football except in pop Warner where I played WR and went to the Florida championships.

At your position, what separates you from others?

At my position what separates me from others would have to be my ability to not only have the physical aspects of a quarterback but my ability to learn an offense quickly and read a defense.

When you are breaking down film, what do you look for?

When I break down film I look at every position on defense. I look for weaknesses in the secondary I look for tells that players give away when blitzing. I also look at tendencies in which coaches call particular plays on a certain down and distance.

If you could compare your play to one player in the NFL who would it be and why?

If I had to compare my style to a QB in the NFL it would have to be Andrew Luck. The reason is he is always looking down field throw , when getting hit he still powers through it to throw the ball, he runs only if he absolutely has to, he is accurate, has a quick release, strong arm, and also he is not afraid to take chances down field with his receivers. All of these things I have been taught to do since I was at an early age of 10.

What was the biggest obstacle in your life you had to overcome, and how did you overcome it?

The biggest obstacle in my life was when I came out of junior college and into a university and not starting the first time in my life. I had to red shirt. When this happened to me i was pretty angry but quickly learned it was for a reason. I saw a lot of other athletes who went through this quit or change teams. I knew that I would work hard and play my part. Told myself prepare like you are playing this week, know the playbook better than anyone else and that’s what I did. The next year I got my shot and ran with it

Do you have any pre-game rituals?

My pre game  ritual would have to be taking a shower so I feel super clean and fresh and organizing everything in order in my locker. The from there I take about ten minutes to myself by listening to music and running through my head everything I saw in film that week,  and all the special key points to look out for.

What is your biggest strength?

My biggest strength would have to be my ability to lead a team.

What is your biggest weakness?

My weakness would have to be my over pursuit of perfection of plays.

If I were a GM and gave you a second to sell yourself, what would you say?

I was speaking to the gm and had one second, I would say one word  “winner”

Who was your favorite player and NFL team growing up?

My favorite player growing up was Peyton Manning and my favorite team is the 49ers

If you could have dinner with three people dead or alive, who would you choose?

If I could have dinner with three people it would have to be Joe Montana, Peyton Manning, and Steve Young
