Cowboys owner calls himself an expert at finding quarterbacks
Jerry Jones pumped his chest out today when he talked about the quarterbacks he has signed. He actually called himself a QB expert, and feels the team has at least five years left with Tony Romo, in a Cowboys uniform.
“We’re a few years off with Tony Romo in my mind,” Jones told KNWA-TV. “I look at him and I see five years and maybe more, and he’s right at the apex of when he can be the most effective. But it is time [to look for another quarterback], give us an opportunity.
“I’m such a great expert at developing quarterbacks, because the very first day I walked into the NFL, the very first pick that was there was Troy Aikman,” Jones said. “We had a Cinderella story with a free agent, much less drafting one, with Tony Romo. So those guys do show up down at the bottom of the draft, or they show up out in free agency. That would be my dream. Now that’s rare when that can happen.”
