Gardner Webb WR Kenny Cook impresses NFL Scouts at Pro Day; AMAZING STORY

kenny cookGardner Webb WR Kenny Cook impressed NFL teams today at his Pro Day after running a 4.54 forty yard dash in front of 9 NFL teams on a cold and wet day.  Cook should be impressive, the kid is 6’3, 218 pounds with a wing span of 81 inches.  While his stats are impressive, Cook is a fighter and the NFL scouts love it.

How is he a fighter?

He’s overcome a bout with cancer — Hodgkins Disease — to continue his athletic dreams.

“I woke up one morning in the 10th grade and my neck was swollen,” said Cook, who has stayed around the GWU campus this summer. “I went and had a CT scan and that’s where it showed up. I had stage four Hodgkins.”

That began an eight-month ordeal with chemo and radiation treatments.

“I lost a lot of weight and my hair,” said Cook. “I went and read all I could about it and saw that it was curable.”

Cancer could not slow down Kenny Cook, neither could defenders.

Cook finished tied for third in Gardner-Webb history with 188 career receptions, established a new career record with 5.7 receptions per game and tied with Hall of Famer Rodney Robinson for the most catches in a three-year career at Gardner-Webb.

Kenny Cook is now on the verge of completing the ultimately childhood dream, and with his 4.54 forty yard dash at the Pro Day, it could be happening very soon…

Scouts gave me these measurements:

6030 – Height, 208 pounds, 10 3/8 hands, 34.4 Arms, 81.2 Wing Span, 32.5 Vertical, 10 Ft. Broad Jump, 12 reps of 225, and a 4.54 forty yard dash.  That is amazing for a big wide receiver!!!
