Franchise Tag deadline is today at 4; Several players will be tagged
Today the NFL’s first deadline arrives. The Franchise tag must be used by 4 eastern time. Last year only four players were tagged, but this year many others will be tagged according to Ian Rapoport.
NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport has reported that franchise tags are expected for Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Justin Houston, Denver Broncos wide receiver Demaryius Thomas, New York Giantsdefensive end Jason Pierre-Paul and New England Patriots safety Devin McCourty assuming there isn’t a surprising late agreement on a long-term deal, according to sources informed of their situations. Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant will get tagged Monday as well.
A few names to keep in mind are Jeremy Maclin, Ndamukong Suh and Randall Cobb. All three might not get tagged.
