Chris Borland’s Mother is happy her son walked away from Football early
Chris Borland‘s decision to walk away from football at the age of 24 sent shock waves through twitter, but one person was extremely happy of his decision. Zebbie Borland, Chris’ mother said she was very proud of her son for walking away, according to TMZ Sports.
“He made the decision the other day,” said Borland’s mother Zebbie in an interview yesterday. “He’s been here (in his hometown of Dayton, Ohio) and on the road visiting his friends and siblings and the decision was made amongst the family.” Borland walked away from a deal that would have paid him close to $2 million more had he completed his contract with the 49ers.
Regarding how Borland’s retirement would affect the decision of younger family members who may want to play football, Zebbie told TMZ that it may not affect their future plans. “I know Chris’ 4-year-old nephews will end up playing sports soon, I’m sure he won’t discourage them from playing football, I think he will work with them and provide knowledge,” she said, concluding that “Chris is a good boy.”
