Oakland Raiders will have around 70 million dollars when free agency opens
The Oakland Raiders can really turn their organization around, especially when you look at their cap figure. Right now the team is around 70 million dollars under the cap heading into next year, assuming the cap does not raise even more. That is a lot of money, which means Reggie McKenzie has really done a wonderful job at managing the cap.
The Raiders have a solid blend of veterans and rookies who have contributed, but now they will be able to really go out and make a splash.
One position they might explore heavily is tight end. The team currently has 2 players on their roster and have the lowest amount paid to their tight ends in the entire National Football League. With two players under contract and the total of the two amounting to 620,000 dollars, I would expect them to make a huge run at Julius Thomas if he becomes available.
Considering the Raiders have a top 5 pick again this year, if they can land a couple more key rookies like Khalil Mack, Justin Ellis and Derek Carr again they could be a playoff contender very soon.
