On Thursday, the 49ers hired Eric Mangini as their defensive coordinator and Tony Sparano as their tight ends coach, ESPN reported. Mangini and Sparano have combined to spend parts of 10 seasons as NFL head coaches. Sparano, the Dolphins’ head coach from 2008-11, went 3-9 with the Raiders in an interim role this season.
This is a very good hire for the Niners. I like it.
