Houston Bates broke a record today against his former team
Houston Bates the Louisiana native was excited to play against his former team this morning. I texted him this morning and he said “I promise you my presence will be felt.”
@DraftDiamonds: We talked to Houston Bates this morning and he told me he would make his presence felt. Well today he did that #LATech #HoustonBates #Sack
Well Bates was not kidding, the La Tech defensive end slaughtered his former team breaking a new record.
The Tech defensive lineman entered the game with 5.5 sacks on the season and then racked up 5.5 sacks with another two tackles for loss in Louisiana Tech’s 35-18 victory.
Bates also had a sack wiped out by an illegal substitution penalty. He was selected as the game’s MVP.
According to ESPN College Football, the 6.5 tackles for a loss are an all-time record for a bowl game.
His quote after the game was amazing:
“If I die tomorrow my life will be complete”
