Today’s Get to know series will focus on Marquel Combs the former top JUCO transfer and keep an eye on the former SE Louisiana DT, because we feel at NFL Draft Diamonds, you will want to know all about him.

Marquel Combs

Where do you play college football?

Southeastern Louisiana 

How many teams were recruiting you out of high school?

No school recruited me out of high school but when I went to junior college I had 51 d1a offers and also was the top player in the nation .

How did you choose your school?

I talked it over with my family make sure it was the best place for me to play.

Where are you from?

I’m from Memphis TN

Who is your role model, and why?

I would have to say my two uncles because they taught me how to mature and what to expect in life.

Have any scouts met with you yet, and if so what are they saying?

I talked to a few CFL teams.

Did you play any other sports growing up?

I didn’t play any sport growing up. I played football my senior year in high school.

Did you play any other positions in football?

I only played defensive tackle

At your position, what separates you from others?

I would have to say my get off and getting off block quickly.

When you are breaking down film, what do you look for?

I try to find out what are they weakest and what are they top plays by personal.

Who was the toughest player you ever faced?

The guard from Tulane I don’t remember his name but he was pretty good.

If you could compare your play to one player in the NFL who would it be and why?

Haloti Ngata I would compare my game to his because he is a impact player, very good get off,and  how he just play over all.

What was the biggest obstacle in your life you had to overcome, and how did you overcome it?

I think the biggest obstacle I over came is growing up in the inner city. Making it through junior college living with 5 people in a one bed room apartment  and to make it to college and graduate .

Do you have any pre-game rituals?

My pre game rituals is to sit back and listen to Richard Pryor just to give me a good laugh and to easy my mind.

What is your biggest strength?

I would have to say getting off the ball .

What is your biggest weakness?

Getting stronger

If I were a GM and gave you a second to sell yourself, what would you say?

I would tell you thank you first and then I would tell you that have a great personality , very hungry to prove myself, I want to help your team win anyway possible .  

Who was your favorite player and NFL team growing up?

The Falcons and I liked Warren Sapp

If you could have dinner with three people dead or alive, who would you choose?

Russell Simmons, Sean Combs, and Warren Sapp
