Browns place Josh Gordon on suspended list for a reason; Smart move
The Cleveland Browns would have a decision to make if they were to let Josh Gordon play this week after missing practice, because he would have played in 6 games.
@darrenrovell: Gordon’s suspension leaves him 1 game shy of accredited season (6 active). Per @AdamSchefter, means restricted FA for ’16 vs unrestricted.
That would have qualified him for a full year under his contract and would have made him an unrestricted free agent in 2016.
By the team suspending him, the Browns now own the keys to the car for another year. Gordon will now be a restricted free agent in 2016. This means the team can tag him and trade him if he stays out of trouble.
It sounds like the Browns knew what they were doing. Sort of showing a poker face…..
