Bears players are upset with how Marc Trestman handled the Cutler benching
It sounds like things are getting a bit chippy in Chicago, and no I am not talking about the gun violence. I am talking about the Chicago Bears and the benching of Jay Cutler.
Many players on the Bears roster are pissed that they were the last people to know that Jimmy Clausen would be starting this week over Jay Cuter. Before Trestman informed the team, however, ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter posted a tweet breaking news of the coach’s decision to bench Cutler in favor of Clausen.
“I found out on Twitter; not ideal,” left guard Kyle Long said.
Cornerback Charles Tillman on “Mike & Mike” on ESPN radio said he found out about the news on Twitter, too.
“We’d like for everything to come from in-house first, but at the end of the day, it didn’t work out like that,” said left tackle Jermon Bushrod, who added the team held a meeting Thursday “to cover up what got out yesterday.”
This is just another reason to send Trestman packing. This is not the CFL, you need to let your team know what is going on.
