49ers may have to rely on Alfonso Smith to carry the load
Running back Frank Gore did not participate in practice on Tuesday, as he arrived at the team facility after a visit to a doctor as part of the NFL’s protocol on concussions.
Gore must pass the designated steps in order to be available for the 49ers’ game Saturday night against the San Diego Chargers.Backup running back Carlos Hyde was also not seen on the field at the beginning of practice after sustaining right ankle and back injuries on a third-quarter play.
This could leave Alfonso Smith the former Kentucky Wildcat running back. Smith has been hungry for an opportunity and I cannot wait for him to get his shot.
