Mark Barron calls Lovie Smith’s defense “Passive”

barronMark Barron has been known as a very vicious hitter and aggressive player.  The Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense has never really been one of that nature. So when the Buccaneers wasted a first round pick on Mark Barron they wanted him to change his style of play, and that did not work out.  Now Barron will be on the St. Louis Rams defense that is a fiesty, hard hitting defense which should fit Barron well.  Barron is excited for his opportunity in St. Louis but also wanted to take a shot at the Buccaneers defense on the way out by calling Lovie Smith’s defense passive.

While Barron said he enjoyed his time in Tampa, he also said that he felt Smith’s defense didn’t let him take full advantage of his aggressiveness.

“Yeah, it is passive,” Barron said, via the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. “That’s kind of the only thing I didn’t like about it a lot of times. I had to sit back and I couldn’t really be as aggressive as I wanted to in that system. So yeah, I would most definitely say that.”

It will be interesting to see how Barron does in St. Louis under Jeff Fisher and company.
