Falcons axe Courtney Roby; Activate small schooler Freddie Martino
Atlanta promoted wide receiver Freddie Martino from the practice squad to the 53-man roster on Tuesday, putting him in position to be the first product of the South Carolina school to break into the big leagues.
Martino was signed as an undrafted free agent during the offseason and has been on the practice squad since the start of the regular season. He takes the place of wide receiver Courtney Roby, who was released after making one catch in four games so far this season.
Martino played college football at North Greensville University. He will likely be used on special teams this week by the Falcons.
