Dolphins suspend DE Derrick Shelby indefinitely
Miami Dolphins defensive end Derrick Shelby was suspended indefinitely Monday following his arrest this weekend at a Fort Lauderdale nightclub.
The Dolphins citied Shelby for “conduct detrimental to the team.”
According to the police report obtained, Shelby inappropriately touched females at the nightclub without permission and was asked to leave. Shelby allegedly refused — asking, “What are you going to do?” — and was tased several times by police.
The Dolphins released this statement:
“We were disappointed to learn about Derrick’s arrest. Everyone in this organization is held to high standards of conduct and professionalism,” Dolphins coach Joe Philbin said in a statement. “Based on my conversations with Derrick and the information we have thus far, Derrick will be placed on Indefinite Club Suspension. When we have completed all of the necessary diligence, we will make a final determination on his discipline.”
