My thoughts on the Chris Baker hit on Nick Foles (Video)
Controversy swirled this weekend when Redskins defensive end Chris Baker put a hit on Nick Foles towards the end of a play in which Redskins Safety Bashaud Breeland Picked Foles off. Everyone got upset and called it a cheap shot and he was ejected for a fight that was started by the Eagles Offensive lineman Jason Peters. If I’m not mistaken is Nick Foles not a football player? Is Nick Foles allowed to chase down and attempt to tackle Breeland?
The answer is yes, yes he is and if Breeland wasn’t tackled Foles would have had a shot on him had it not been for the BLOCK that Chris Baker put on him. All of this was validated when the NFL chose not to punish him saying he didn’t break any rules. I get protecting the QB is a big deal, but we can’t get to a point where they (QB’s) are allowed to hit people without they themselves being a target.
