8 percent of teams starting 0-2 made it to the playoffs over last 24 years
Since the league expanded to a 12-team playoff format in 1990, 63.2 percent of the clubs that opened 2-0 reached the playoffs. Seven squads have started 2-0.
According to Fox Sports Alex Marvez, over the past 24 seasons weren’t nearly as kind to 0-2 teams. According to the NFL, only eight percent to open with that mark have rebounded to qualify for the playoffs in that same time span.
That is not good news for teams like the New York Giants, Kansas City Chiefs, Indianapolis Colts and the New Orleans Saints. Three of those teams were in the playoffs in 2013.
They better rebound soon, because facts do not usually lie.
