Vernon Davis deserves a top-tier deal, but can the 49ers make everyone happy?

Vernon Davis is just one of several 49ers who are going to denand more money. Right now Alex Boone and Vernon Davis are both saying they want more money, but the team will have 25 plus free agents in 2015.

With two years remaining on his six-year, $42.7 million deal, Davis argued that he’s playing at a higher level than ever before and said his teammates would agree with his stance. Davis spoke with SI’s Peter King about the situation, stating his case.

“I want the 49ers to win the Super Bowl, and I want to be on the field this summer working towards that goal, but I have to worry about my future first. Most of my teammates and many players in the NFL understand that. A few don’t,” Davis wrote.

“Behind closed doors, they’ll say they’re all about the team and would run through a brick wall for the organization. But when you look closer, they’re doing things to contradict themselves. I can’t listen to anyone but my family and my advisors, because those are the people who are going to be there when football inevitably dumps me.”

While I feel he does deserve big time money, the 49ers are not in the spot to be giving everyone a pay raise. The team just broke the bank for Colin Kaepernick, but will have Aldon Smith, Mike Iupati, Chris Cook and Michael Crabtree just to name a few, who are in the final year of their contracts.

If the team wants to win, they will need to be more team players, or else this team could fall into shambles.
