Steelers are no longer the “Old” team, they are getting faster
Despite the loss of Emmanuel Sanders and Jerricho Cotchery, Offensive Coordinator Todd Haley stated near the end of offseason practices that his current wide receiver corps is as deep from top to bottom as any he has ever coached.
“I think some guys that are pretty good football players,” Haley explained, via ESPN.com, “probably won’t make the team.”
That is impressive since Haley coached Anquan Boldin, Steve Breaston and Larry Fitzgerald and all three had a 1,000 yards each and won a Super Bowl.
The Steelers are raving about Justin Brown, Marcus Wheaton, Antonio Brown and others. When you add in Darrius Heyward-Bey, Martavis Bryant and Lance Moore who came from the Saints, the team will have a hard job releasing someone. While it looks like Justin Brown would be the odd man out, his wide receivers coach says he has been shining.
“He really doesn’t look like the same guy. He’s made a transition,” wide receivers coach Richard Mann said of Brown. “He’s changed and matured. He understands the concepts. (He’s) smoother. His body language is different. He’s just a different guy.”
This Steelers team has a spark to it, something that haven’t had in a while.
