Did you know the Eagles and Steelers had to merge in the 1940’s?
World War II was real, and many of our fellow Americans joined the armed forces to protect our country. When it comes to football there is a very interesting fact regarding the World War.
Due to many of the players being enlisted in WWII, the 1943 Pittsburgh Steelers had to combine with the Philadelphia Eagles to form the “Steagles“.
The Steagles had a very forgettable record of 5-4-1 that year but the next year Pittsburgh combined with the Chicago Cardinals and went 0-10. They became known around the league as “CarPit” as they scored just 108 points offensively.
I thought if you were a Steelers fan you would find this interesting.
