Washington Redskins have exercised the 5th year option on Ryan Kerrigan
Today the Washington Redskins picked up the option to bring back Ryan Kerrigan for another year.
AdamSchefter Redskins announced they have exercised their fifth-year option on the contract of linebacker Ryan Kerrigan. 5/2/14 10:37 AM |
It was expected the Redskins would pick up Kerrigan’s option — CBS Sports NFL Insider Jason La Canfora reported as much on Thursday amid other options being picked up.
Kerrigan, the 16th overall pick, will make $7.038 million (guaranteed for injury only) in 2015 as a result of the Redskins picking up his option.
Washington originally held the 10th-overall pick in that draft but traded with the Jaguars, who moved up to select Blaine Gabbert. (Whoops.) It worked out brilliantly for the Redskins, who will save more than $2 million in 2015 on Kerrigan as a result of him going 16th overall instead of 10th because of how those numbers are calculated.
