Six wild and crazy 2014 NFL Draft Day Predictions

The NFL Draft is a strange event, and lately the draft is harder to predict.  Well we know the Draft is a fun time of the year, because teams want to land their guy.  Well here are 6 draft day predictions we feel can happen on Thursday.

1st prediction – The Houston Texans draft Khalil Mack of Buffalo over Jadeveon Clowney.  Jadeveon Clowney has been labeled as the best product in this draft class, and while I agree with that when you look at pure athleticism, but does he fit the Houston scheme?  I don’t think he fits the mold as well as Mack will.  Mack is a play maker who can get off the edge. The Texans defense is already nasty, and if you add a player like Khalil Mack to the Texans defense they could really cause some damage.

2nd prediction – The St. Louis Rams trade their number 2 pick to the Detroit Lions for the number 10 pick and a first rounder in 2015.  The Lions land another major target for Matthew Stafford. The Lions want to win now, and are shooting for the stars.  The team passes on the freakish Jadeveon Clowney to land Calvin Johnson’s counterpart in Sammy Watkins.  Watkins and Megatron make an amazing duo and put all the pressure on Stafford.

3rd prediction – The Jacksonville Jaguars land Jadeveon Clowney – When you look at the draft, the Jaguars need to find a playmaker, and they get one of the freakish players to enter the draft in the past 10 years.  The Jaguars are going to be a defensive minded team, and with the addition of Clowney and a few other former Seahawks this Jags defense could turn into a very tough defense.

4th prediction – Taylor Lewan is drafted before Jake Matthews  – Jake Matthews is one of the most versatile players in the NFL Draft, and he is one of my top 5 guys, but teams like speed.  Teams like big and fast guys, and Lewan fits that mold.  Lewan is a mean player who plays angry, he is drafted by a team and goes a few picks before Jake Matthews.

5th prediction – Mike Evans is selected in the top 5.  The former Texas A&M wide receiver lands on the Oakland Raiders roster.  The team has already stated they are not going quarterback, and the team wants to win now.  Well by giving Matt Schaub another big target, the Raiders find a guy that can make plays over the middle.  Mike Evans is selected in the top 5, and he will ball out.

6th and final prediction – Tampa Bay is the first team to draft a quarterback.  Yes, you heard it correctly.  The Tampa Bay Buccaneers land a quarterback, and his name is Johnny Manziel.  The former Heisman winner is selected in the top 10 and goes to a team that has a stop gap quarterback in place.  Manziel will bring passion and love to the city of Tampa.

Here is my top 10 via these predictions

1. Houston Texans – Khalil Mack

2. Detroit Lions – Sammy Watkins
