Recap: First 5 Picks in 2014 NFL Draft
With the first pick in the NFL Draft the Houston Texans took the best defensive player in the draft. Jadeveon Clowney the former South Carolina defensive end will play opposite for years to come. If he can play at a high level the Texans could get back into the playoffs sooner rather than later. They will need a quarterback, and I would expect them to trade up to get one.
With the second pick the St. Louis Rams solidified their offensive line. They drafted Greg Robinson the former offensive tackle from Auburn University. The team is expected to move him to left guard and play him next to Jake Long the former first round pick who they landed in free agency last year from the Dolphins.
The third pick went to the Jacksonville Jaguars, who selected the quarterback they have been coveting all year. The team has been in love with the former Oviedo, Florida native. Bortles is a big quarterback and will be penciled in at starter from day one. Will them passing on Manziel bite them? We will know soon enough.
The fourth pick yielded the first trade in the draft. The Buffalo Bills gave up their number 9 pick, a first rounder in 2015 and a fourth rounder in 2015 for the fourth pick. They drafted Sammy Watkins the former Clemson wide out with the fourth pick. The Fort Myers, Florida will be a stand out in the Bills offense. E.J. Manuel will have tons of weapons, so it will be interesing to see what they do from here.
The fifth pick was the Oakland Raiders selecting Khalil Mack from the University Buffalo. This is an amazing move, the guy is a stud, and to me the best linebacker in the draft. Mack will be a stud for many years to come. I love the pick, because Mack is a stud.
