New England Patriots sign small school speedster
The Patriots have agreed to terms with undrafted rookie free agent wide receiver Derrick Johnson, the Hempstead, New York who attended the University of Maine. Johnson is a speedster who was clocked at a 4.3 in the 40 yard dash.
NFL scouts were drawn to him his senior year because of his speed. The 5-foot-11, 190-pound wideout also had 31 catches for 346 yards and two TDS his junior season.
Johnson will be a very good signing for the Patriots. He is very similar to Wes Welker, but is a quicker version.
