Colt Lyerla’s second chance could pay off dividends for the Packers

Everyone in TwitterWorld is talking about Colt Lyerla and his signing with the Green Bay Packers, but this could be the best signing of the entire draft.  One NFL scout had this to say about him according to the Milwaukee Journal.

AFC scout: “As a freshman I compared him to (Rob) Gronkowski. They played him at tight end, H-back, fullback. In high school he was one of the top rushers in the nation. He really liked Chip Kelly. He became like his father because he really had a messed-up family background. When Chip left it really hurt him. He’s got a lot of problems in his background. I think Chip would probably take a shot on him. He’s really intelligent. He’s been pushed around his entire life and he has no confidence in himself off the field.”

We as Americans try to give everyone a second chance.  If his background is truly as messed up as the scout said, he probably has had zero guidance in his life.  I hate to see kids growing up without guidance, but let’s face it, every day in America it happens.

No one would know what Colt Lyerla is capable of if he was not given this opportunity.  The team loses absolutely nothing if they cut him.  If it pans out they landed the next Vontaze Burfict.  The guy is a Pro-Bowl caliber player.  Vontaze has turned out pretty good, after everyone spit on his image.  Packers I give you a round of applause, because this move will more than likely pay off in major dividends.
